Perceptual Echoes: Chromatic Resonance

An audiovisual performance and phenomenological study exploring how colour, sound, and motion shape perception as lived experience.

Experience

This performance invites you to experience colours as living sensations. Through movement, sound, and chromatic transitions, perception shifts, responds, and reorganizes — echoing the inner logic of human experience.[1](https://mmuedumy-my.sharepoint.com/personal/ahmad_hafidzuddin_mmu_edu_my/Documents/Microsoft%20Copilot%20Chat%20Files/Perception%20Echoes%20Chromatic%20Resonance.pdf)

Approach

The work unfolds as a perceptual journey: from activation, to reflection, to tension, to playful openness, and finally to unity. Visuals respond to internal emotional rhythms, while sound structures perceptual flow. It integrates Kantian intuition, Gestalt perceptual grouping, and contemporary audiovisual practice to explore how meaning forms before language. Structure

01 — Awakening

Warm tones emerge, activating perception and attention.

02 — Reflection

Cool transitions slow perception into calm and clarity.

03 — Tension

Warm and cool collide, generating perceptual conflict.

04 — Play

Gestalt dynamics unfold through fluid visual interaction.

05 — Unity

All elements converge into a balanced perceptual field.

Research

This performance investigates how audiences interpret audiovisual stimuli, how colour influences emotion, and how multisensory cues shape meaning-making. It functions both as an artistic experience and a research instrument, capturing subjective perceptual responses.
